Writing My Way Back To God <3
Would you believe me if I said I felt more connected to my writing than to my college degree. Writing isn’t just a hobby, it’s been home. A home I’ve abandoned because it saw me too clearly. It held up a mirror I wasn’t ready to look into. It challenged me to grow in ways I didn’t yet have language for.
“God still wants me to share this gift. He’s still writing through me.”
For the past two years, I’ve felt disconnected from the very gift God gave me. Not because it left me… but because I idolized it.
I cared more about the applause of people than the affirmation of God.
I was performing with the gift, not partnering with it.
Lately, Gods grace and His unwavering love, have been teaching me how to cherish my gift rather than prostituting it to the world. To honor what’s been placed inside of me instead of constantly trying to prove that I deserve it.
That shift became clear this past March, when I sold my first piece of writing outside of my book. It was confirmation: God still wants me to share this gift. He’s still writing through me.
When I wrote the piece “To the Systems That Won’t Change,” I remembered what I refuse to settle for but mainly the system I need to change within myself. It challenges me to go against societal norms and to move in faith, even when the world influences me to stay still or compromise.
So, in honor of National Poetry Month, I’ve decided to sell five of my favorite pieces from my book. Each one carries a part of this journey but most importantly, a piece of my heart. (Click the link below)
This journey isn’t about ease.
It’s about obedience.
with love,
